Feeling anxious, worried or overwhelmed?
Having trouble communicating with your spouse?
Feeling dissatisfied with your life?
Feeling like nobody understands you?

Compassionate, non-judgmental counseling may help you find relief.

Many, many people have felt at one time or another just like you do now.  Feelings of anxiety (that panicked, vaguely worried feeling that won't go away) and depression (like you are dragging yourself through your day, feeling

tired, sad and unhappy) are the most commonly reported but also the most easily treated.  Family problems, financial pressures, health issues, relationship issues, loss of a loved one, layoffs, an impending recession...can all contribute to these feelings.

The Holidays.  It's also that time of year again.  Halloween's arrival marks the beginning of what can be a very stressful period. In addition to the usual gift buying/entertaining rush, family issues can become magnified as families are "expected" to be together and be happy.  For those of us with dysfunctional families, that isn't so easy.  The holidays can be a minefield of hidden anger and guilt.  For those of us who have lost a loved one, due to death, illness or divorce the holidays are also especially stressful.  This may be the first year that you've had to face them alone.  The "firsts" are usually the hardest.  Top all of this off with the dominant expectation from society that we are all just so happy because it's "the most wonderful time of the year" and we have a recipe for mental and emotional stress.

A small but still strong part of you has brought you to this website.  That's the part of you that can be strengthened to help you cope with life.  You aren't "crazy," you are just a person whose stress has exceeded his or her ability to cope.  Research proves that therapy can help with this.  Sometimes life is just too overwhelming to deal with on your own.

So why not just come in and talk to me?  If I think your situation requires help beyond my skills I will tell you so.  I won't charge you for the first session so that you can meet me and see if you are comfortable talking to me.  Feeling comfortable with your therapist is very important to the healing process.

If you decide to work with me, I will partner with you to use clinically proven and straightforward methods, many of which I can teach you to practice at home.  I believe clients are the best authority on their own lives, and it is through this authority that we will work.  I also believe that clients have many strengths that they may be unaware of.  Together, we will uncover and emphasize these strengths to help you meet your goals.

I also believe in using a holistic approach.  Although it has originated as an Eastern way of thinking, there is a growing body of research indicative of the mind-body connection. Together, we will look at your exercise habits, nutrition, and stress management techniques.  We will also look at your external environment- your family, spirituality, and support network.  By looking at these areas and strengthening them, we can increase your ability to cope.
